‘El Diego’, as known as Jose Antonio Acosta Hernandez, was arrested Friday in Chihuahua, having confessed that he ordered the murder of 1,500 people in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Among the casualties are police officers, government officials, members of rival gangs and even members of his organization.

The detainee is suspected of being the leader of “La Linea,” a criminal group with links to one of the major Mexican cartels – the “Cartel del Golfo” – running its entirety as murderers for that cartel.

Although initially only be appointed as the moral author of the murder of three people with links to the U.S. consulate in Mexico in 2010, Jose Antonio Acosta Hernandez confessed to having ordered 1,500 murders.

Note that the Mexican government had offered a reward of around 900,000 euros for information leading to the arrest of “El Diego“.
